Lake Superior Cottage Rental Deer Park Michigan

The "Caboose Style" Cottage  located on Lake Superior in Deer Park (Upper Peninsula) Michigan, 18
miles east of Grand Marais (east entrance to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore), 30 miles north of
Newberry and 1 hour from beautiful Tahquamenon Falls on a paved and plowed road (County Rd 407) 6
hours from Pontiac, Michigan and 1.5 hours from the Mackinaw Bridge

Deer Park, Michigan  is uniquely situated directly on Lake Superior and across the street from
Muskallonge Lake.  Because of its unique location 70,000 people visit the area during the summer and
countless snowmobiles pass through during the winter.  Lake Superior snowfalls are legendary.  Deer
Park is a cottage community with 2 convience stores here and a bar/gas station (Pine Stump Bar) 8 miles
south at Pine Stump Junction.  Muskallonge Lake State Park borders the property on the west side.

Attractions (within 2 hrs.)  Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore/Park - Tahquamenon Falls - Grand Island -
Oswalds Bear Farm - Hemingways Big Two Hearted River - Big Spring - Mackinaw Island - 3 Casinos -
Whitefish Point  Shipwreck Museum - Seney Wildlife Preserve - Fayette Ghost Town - Soo Locks - Little Lake -
Grand Marais - Newberry - Paradise - Munising - Marquette - Soo St (Saint) Marie - Lake Michigan

Possible Scenario  wake up in the morning, sit in bed with a nice cup of "Caboose Coffee" and view Lake
Superior (Gitche Gumee) in all her temperamental glory, then go agate hunting on the beach or fish the
countless lakes in the area; maybe take a swim at the Muskallonge Lake beach or even in Lake Superior.
Take in a spectacular sunset or sunrise on the same beach (how rare).  In the evening sit on the beach and
view the stars like you have never seen them (when was the last time you seen the Milky Way).  When they
happen the Northern Lights displays are truly spectacular.  In winter snowmobiling is king here with 200 to
300 inches of annual snowfall.  Part of the allure is the "feeling" of remoteness and Lake Superiors rugged yet
unspoiled beautiful shoreline.  Fall colors only add to this rugged beauty.  A fast paced life doesn't exist here.

What about the "Caboose"?  The "Caboose Style" Cottage is a very unique (copyrighted) design.  Its
basically a luxury cottage designed to look similar to the Classic Railroad Train Caboose.  It has a living room
w/fireplace, 1 bathroom w/2-person Jacuzzi, 2 bedrooms ( 1 bedroom upstairs in cupola is closed off for
storage - is now available for extra charge), kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker and
custom built dinette/booth, hardwood floor in kitchen, carper thru-out, 5 skylights, 2 ceiling fans, cathedral
ceilings, 2 bay windows etc.  There are accommodations to sleep 5 (9 with the 2nd story "cupola" bedroom).

The Design  was inspired by a real train caboose at Crossroads Village in Flint.  It was hand built -
painstakingly - in the year 2000 (although took 6 years) proudly by the owner Frank with help and
encouragement from his father.  "I'm very proud of my design, its original, very functional and its fun.
The Classic Train Caboose has been around for over 150 years and I intend to help make sure this classic
design is not forgotten.

Situated on 4 private wooded acres next to Muskallonge Lake State Park and on a 35' bluff overlooking
both a 3 acre pond (with stairway and walkway) and the always beautiful Lake Superior.  Ownership of 200'
beachfront/lakefront is just a minutes walk (aprox. 500') down from the cottage, brings you access to
miles of remote yet beautiful agate stone/sandy Lake Superior beach.  Very few beaches offer this kind of
privacy and seclusion with very little development and no high rise condos to spoil the vistas.  Where
else can you watch a summer sunrise and sunset on the same beach.  The fury and splendor of Lake
Superior is yours to experience here.

Deer Park is 1/2 hr North of Newberry, between Grand Marais (Pictured Rocks) and Paradise (Whitefish
Point - Tahquamenon Falls) and 1.5 hrs from Munising and is considered the UP of Michigan, Northern
Michigan or the Upper Peninsula.
